3m to 12m Galvanized Lighting Columns and Lamp Posts
Our standard-duty galvanized steel lighting columns are available in 3m, 4m, 5m, 6m, 8m, 10m and 12m heights, with a choice of root-mounted or flange-plate installation.
The range is suitable for street lighting, commercial car parks, industrial yards, residential developments, access roads, sports facilities, general amenity areas and CCTV installations.
The columns can be used with compatible LED street lanterns, floodlights, post-top luminaires, CCTV cameras, wireless communication equipment and selected lightweight solar or wind-powered equipment, subject to the relevant head-load and windage requirements.
Each column is manufactured from structural steel tube and hot-dip galvanized to provide durable corrosion protection for long-term exterior use.

Choosing the Correct Column Height
The most suitable column height will depend on the size of the area, proposed luminaire or equipment, required coverage, surrounding environment and available mounting positions.
3m and 4m columns are commonly used for pathways, smaller amenity areas, residential developments, compact car parks and lower-level CCTV installations.
5m and 6m columns provide increased coverage for commercial car parks, access roads, schools, leisure facilities, general exterior lighting and CCTV systems.
8m columns are suited to larger car parks, commercial yards, sports facilities and sites requiring increased coverage from fewer mounting positions.
10m and 12m columns are designed for larger industrial areas, storage and distribution yards, extensive car parks, sports grounds and high-level lighting or CCTV applications.
The proposed luminaire, bracket, camera or other equipment must remain within the permitted head-load and windage limits for the selected column.
Root-Mounted Lighting Column Specifications
Root-mounted columns are installed directly into a prepared excavation. The overall column length includes the stated above-ground height and the buried root section.

Materials, Construction and Standards
These lighting columns are manufactured from structural steel tube and finished using a hot-dip galvanized process to provide durable corrosion protection for long-term exterior use.
The range is manufactured in accordance with the applicable requirements of:
• BS EN 40 – Lighting columns
• PD 6547 – Guidance on the use of BS EN 40
• BS EN ISO 1461 – Hot-dip galvanized coatings on fabricated iron and steel articles
Each column includes an access door and internal earthing provision for the installation and maintenance of suitable electrical equipment.
The proposed column, bracket and mounted equipment should always be assessed together. Luminaire weight, bracket weight, projected windage area, mounting height and site exposure must remain within the permitted loading limits for the selected column.
Root-Mounted or Flange-Plate Installation
Root-mounted columns are installed directly into a prepared excavation. The root section is positioned below ground level and surrounded by a suitable foundation material appropriate to the ground conditions and installation requirements.
Optional bitumen protection is available for the buried root section, providing an additional protective coating around the area exposed to soil and ground moisture.
Flange-plate columns are surface-mounted to a suitable prepared concrete foundation using the correct anchor-bolt arrangement. The foundation and fixings must be designed around the selected column height, head load, windage, ground conditions and geographical location.
Our TitanBase precast foundation block may provide a suitable installation option for selected 3m to 5m flange-plate columns with 200 × 200mm bolt centres. Suitability should be confirmed before ordering.
