45W Solar LED Street Light & Lighting Column Packages – 3m to 6m

Our 45W Solar LED Street Light & Lighting Column Packages combine a solar street lantern, lighting column and compatible outreach arm bracket in one convenient package.

Choose a 3m, 4m, 5m or 6m column, with either root-mounted or flange-plate installation, to suit your site. The package provides an off-grid lighting option for car parks, pathways, access routes and other exterior areas.

The lantern’s control programme reduces light output to help preserve battery energy and extend operation through the night. The 45W rating and 5,500-lumen output describe maximum performance, rather than a continuous all-night operating level.

Choosing Your Lighting Column Height

The most suitable height depends on the area to be illuminated, the proposed column positions and the required lighting performance.

3m and 4m columns are commonly used for pathways, smaller amenity areas and compact car parks. 5m and 6m columns provide higher mounting positions for larger car parks, access routes and general exterior areas

A taller column is not automatically the best choice. Height, spacing, light distribution and surrounding conditions should be considered together. Wydels can help select the package configuration as part of a lighting design.

Root-Mounted or Flange-Plate Installation

Root-Mounted Columns

Root-mounted columns have an extended lower section installed below ground within a suitable foundation.

The 3m, 4m and 5m versions have an 800mm root section. This is additional to the stated above-ground height, giving overall lengths of 3.8m, 4.8m and 5.8m respectively.

The 6m version has a 1,000mm root section, giving a total column length of 7m.

Flange-Plate Columns

Flange-plate columns provide a bolt-down mounting arrangement for securing the column to a suitable prepared foundation.

These versions use a 300 × 300mm flange plate with 200 × 200mm bolt centres. Foundation dimensions and anchor requirements must be selected according to the column, mounted equipment, ground conditions and installation location.

Integrated Solar Lantern

The supplied lantern combines the LED light source, solar panel, rechargeable battery and controls within one fitting. Its 5,500-lumen maximum output provides approximately 122 lumens per watt.

The battery stores approximately 115Wh of energy, calculated from its 9.6V / 12Ah specification. Solar charging replenishes that energy during daylight, while the operating programme manages its use after dusk.

For the individual fitting, see our 45W Solar LED Street Lantern.

Intelligent Lighting Modes & Energy Management

Constant-Light Mode

Constant-light mode provides illumination without requiring movement to activate the lantern. Its nominal setting is approximately 50% output.

PIR Motion-Sensor Mode

PIR mode uses a nominal 30% holding level, increasing to full output when movement is detected. After approximately 20 seconds without further movement, the lantern returns to its reduced holding level.

Adaptive Dimming

The lantern can reduce brightness further to prolong operating time. The percentages above describe the nominal mode settings, not guaranteed fixed output throughout the night.

This energy-management behaviour allows the system to prioritise continued operation rather than using the available battery energy at a constant maximum output.

Solar Autonomy & Site Positioning

The quoted autonomy is approximately 3–5 nights, using the lantern’s managed operating programme. Actual duration depends on charging conditions, operating mode, activity and battery condition. This should not be interpreted as several nights at continuous maximum brightness.

For a new installation, consider the panel’s exposure alongside the area that needs lighting. Where winter operation is important, provide Wydels with the site location, expected operating hours and details of any nearby trees or buildings so these can be considered during the project review.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the solar street lighting package?

Each package includes one 45W Solar LED Street Lantern, one galvanized steel lighting column in your selected height and mounting style, and one 200mm outreach arm bracket.

The solar panel, rechargeable battery, LED light source and lighting controls are integrated into the lantern.

What lighting-column heights are available?

The packages are available with 3m, 4m, 5m or 6m lighting columns. These measurements refer to the above-ground column height.

Root-mounted columns include an additional buried section. The 3m, 4m and 5m versions have an 800mm root, while the 6m version has a 1,000mm root.

The most suitable height and spacing will depend on the site layout, intended use and required lighting performance.

What is the difference between root-mounted and flange-plate columns?

A root-mounted column has an extended lower section that is installed below ground within a suitable foundation.

A flange-plate column is secured to a prepared foundation using a suitable anchor-bolt arrangement. The flange-plate versions within this package range have a 300mm × 300mm base plate with 200mm × 200mm bolt centres.

Both package options include the solar lantern and outreach bracket.

Are installation and groundworks included?

No. This is a supply-only package. Installation and groundworks must be arranged separately.

The foundation and any required anchor-bolt arrangement must be specified for the selected column, mounted equipment, ground conditions, wind exposure and installation location.

Contact Wydels to confirm any additional foundation or fixing components required for your chosen mounting method.

Does the package require a mains electricity supply?

No. The lantern operates off-grid using energy collected by its integrated solar panel and stored in the rechargeable battery. A mains electricity connection to the lantern is not required.

This avoids the need for mains power cabling between the lighting columns, although suitable column foundations and installation work are still required.

How much light does the supplied solar lantern produce?

The supplied lantern has a maximum LED power of 45W and a maximum output of approximately 5,500 lumens in 6000K daylight white.

These figures describe its maximum performance. The lantern uses reduced-output settings and intelligent dimming to manage battery energy, so it does not operate continuously at maximum brightness throughout the night.

What solar panel and battery are included?

The lantern incorporates an 18V / 25W monocrystalline solar panel and a 9.6V / 12Ah LiFePO4 rechargeable battery, providing approximately 115Wh of stored energy.

Both components are integrated into the fitting, so a separate external solar panel or battery enclosure is not required.

How do the automatic lighting modes work?

The lantern automatically begins its selected operating programme after dusk and switches off again during daylight. Constant-light and PIR motion-sensor modes are available.

The nominal constant-light setting is approximately 50% output. In PIR mode, the nominal holding level is approximately 30%, increasing to full output when movement is detected. After approximately 20 seconds without further movement, the lantern returns to a reduced level.

The control programme can reduce brightness further to conserve battery energy and extend operation. These percentages are nominal settings rather than guaranteed fixed levels throughout the night.

How long will the lantern operate from a full charge?

The quoted autonomy is approximately 3–5 nights using the lantern's energy-managed operating programme, which reduces light output to help extend runtime.

Actual operating time and brightness depend on the selected mode, PIR activity, available solar charging, weather, time of year and battery condition.

This is not a guarantee of 3–5 nights at continuous maximum brightness or at a fixed holding-light level.

What should I consider for UK winter operation?

Winter performance depends on the solar energy available to recharge the battery and the lighting demand during longer nights. The integrated panel should be positioned with minimal shading from trees, buildings and other structures.

The lantern manages its stored energy by reducing brightness to prolong operation. Where a project requires a particular minimum light level or operating duration, the site and operating requirements should be assessed before ordering.

Provide Wydels with the installation postcode, proposed column positions and required operating hours so these can be considered during the project review.

Can I buy the solar lantern without the column and bracket?

Yes. The 45W Solar LED Street Lantern is also available separately for projects where a suitable column and mounting arrangement are already available.

Are lighting-column drawings available?

Yes. Technical drawings and height-specific information are available on the individual lighting-column product pages.

View the 3m, 4m, 5m and 6m lighting-column for the relevant dimensions.

Review the drawing for your selected height and mounting arrangement before preparing the foundation.

What is the rated lifetime of the solar lantern?

The supplied 45W Solar LED Street Lantern has a rated lifetime of approximately 60,000 hours.

This is a rated-life figure, not the operating time available from a single battery charge.

What warranty is supplied?

The 45W Solar LED Street Lantern included in the package is supplied with a 3-year warranty.

Please contact Wydels for warranty information relating to the lighting column and bracket.
