These specialist aluminium mid-hinged lighting columns are available in 3m, 4m, 5m and 6m heights, with a choice of root-mounted or flange-plate installation.
The patented mid-hinged design allows the upper section of the column and the installed equipment to be raised and lowered from ground level without the need for a winch. This simplifies installation, inspection and future maintenance while reducing the need for specialist access equipment.
Manufactured from lightweight aluminium, the columns are suitable for LED street lanterns, floodlights, CCTV cameras, WIFI & communication equipment and other compatible exterior equipment.

Simplified Installation and Ground-Level Maintenance

The lightweight hinged design provides a practical alternative to conventional fixed lighting columns.
Once the lower section has been installed, the upper column section can be attached and raised into position using the integrated hinge mechanism. The same mechanism allows the column to be lowered when access is required for luminaire installation, inspection or maintenance.
This can reduce reliance on mobile access equipment and makes future replacement or upgrading of the installed equipment considerably easier.

The demonstration below shows how the upper column section can be raised and lowered using the integrated hinge mechanism.
The column should only be operated in accordance with the installation instructions and with suitable control of the column and mounted equipment throughout the raising or lowering process.

*The certified maximum luminaire weight and bracket projection do not automatically confirm suitability for every installation. The proposed equipment weight, projected windage, foundation, geographical location and site exposure must be assessed together.
Root-Mounted or Flange-Plate Installation
Root-mounted columns are installed directly into a prepared excavation. The overall column length includes the selected above-ground height and the buried root section.
The 3m, 4m and 5m root-mounted versions include an 800mm root section. The 6m version includes a 1,000mm root section.
Flange-plate columns are secured to a suitable prepared concrete foundation using the correct anchor-bolt arrangement. This provides a bolt-down alternative where direct burial is not suitable.
The final foundation and fixing arrangement should account for the selected column height, mounted equipment, wind loading, geographical location and local ground conditions.
Materials, Loading and Standards
The column is manufactured from aluminium grade 6005 T6, providing a lightweight and corrosion-resistant structure suitable for long-term exterior use.
The hinged lighting-column range is UKCA certified to BS EN 40-6:2002 for aluminium lighting columns.
The certification covers:

The proposed luminaire, bracket, camera or other equipment must remain within the permitted loading and windage limits.

The raise-and-lower mechanism allows installed equipment to be accessed closer to ground level, making inspection, maintenance and future upgrades easier.
