These root-mounted black lighting columns are available in 3m, 4m, 5m and 6m heights, with a choice of painted or powder-coated RAL9005 jet-black finishes.
Manufactured from galvanized structural steel, the columns provide a durable mounting solution for LED Street Lanterns, Floodlights, CCTV Cameras, Signage and other suitable exterior equipment.

Painted or Powder-Coated Finish
The painted option provides a cost-effective black decorative finish over the galvanized steel column.
The powder-coated option is supplied in RAL9005 jet black and provides a consistent factory-applied finish with improved resistance to surface wear and chipping.
Both finish options retain the underlying hot-dip galvanized corrosion protection of the steel column.
Choosing the Correct Column Height
The most suitable column height will depend on the size of the area, proposed luminaire or equipment, required coverage, surrounding environment and available mounting positions.
3m and 4m columns are commonly used for pathways, residential developments, smaller car parks, amenity areas and lower-level CCTV installations.
5m and 6m columns provide increased coverage for commercial car parks, access roads, schools, leisure facilities, commercial premises and general exterior lighting.
The proposed luminaire, bracket, camera or other mounted equipment must remain within the permitted weight and windage limits of the selected column.

Materials, Construction and Standards
The columns are manufactured from structural steel tube and hot-dip galvanized before the selected decorative black finish is applied.
The range is manufactured in accordance with the applicable requirements of:
• BS EN 40 – Lighting Columns
• PD 6547 – Guidance on the use of BS EN 40
• BS EN ISO 1461 – Hot-dip galvanized coatings on fabricated iron and steel articles
Each column includes an access door and internal earthing provision for the installation and maintenance of suitable electrical equipment.
The proposed column, bracket and mounted equipment should always be assessed together. Luminaire weight, bracket weight, projected windage area, mounting height and site exposure must remain within the permitted loading limits of the selected column.
Installation Information
These columns are supplied for root-mounted installation directly into a prepared excavation.
The buried root section should be surrounded by a suitable foundation material appropriate to the ground conditions, column height and installation requirements.
The final foundation design should take account of the selected column, mounted equipment, wind loading, site exposure and local ground conditions.

The painted and powder-coated finishes are applied to order.
Typical despatch is approximately 5 to 7 working days for painted black columns (although this can sometimes be sooner) and 15–20 working days on powder coated columns from confirmation of the order. Lead times may vary according to quantity, finish and current production schedules.
